What we've been up to...

Whew!!  It has been too long since I've posted on the blog!  My apologies!  We have had a great month back at school since Christmas break. We've even passed the 100th day of school!

Language Arts:
We are currently writing a persuasive essay about whether tigers should be kept as pets.  The 6th graders read an article about this, have formed an opinion, and are now using evidence from the article to support their opinion.  Students will take the reading state assessment at the end of this month.

Math:
We have learned about transformations and probability in the past few weeks.  We will also begin reviewing in order to prepare for the state assessment at the beginning of March.

Spelling:
So far this year, students have been responsible for studying their spelling words at home.  That has gone fairly well until the past few weeks.  Please remind your child to study his/her spelling words at home!

Science:
I'm sure you heard about our awesome knee surgery experience in January!  The 6th graders were able to view a LIVE knee replacement surgery and ask the surgeon questions during the procedure. It was a great opportunity for them!

Social Studies:
We have been learning about Ancient Greece during the past few weeks.  We even had a guest, Mrs. Kuhlmann, show pictures and talk about her trip to Greece.
